A reinvigorated website has just been launched for golf marketing group First in Fife Golf. The collection of twelve golf courses in and around west Fife came together about five years ago to promote their golf packages to the visiting golfer. Up against the big spending neighbours in St Andrews it was a strategic attempt to offer a value golf product to a market that they knew was out there.
The results have been quite astonishing and the group have gone from success to success and become increasingly innovative.
The new site already included online booking and a tee time management facility for all golfers buying the pass and this has now been complemented by online accommodation bookings using the Bookassist online reservations system, an interactive Google Mapping function and even their own First in Fife YouTube channel!
Ian McCaig from Ayrshire based web developers The Edge explains, “The group have always been receptive to any ideas we’ve put their way and they have put many other better funded organisations to shame with their adoption of new technologies. The latest foray into Web 2.0 will not only see them with their own You Tube channel featuring visitor videos but also a quirky Blog focussing on the lighter side of golf in Fife, image galleries and a new fly through Google Earth video highlighting the breadth of attractions in the area. We have seen how the investment and partnership with our ideas has increased traffic quite substantially over the past twenty four months.”
Ewen Watt from Burntisland Golf Club manages the group and was delighted, “We’ve been working with The Edge on online marketing for four years now and we’re delighted with the way that they just keep raising the bar. In today's very competitive market, affected by the world wide recession, we continue to look forward and the site now allows all our golf course and accommodation partners to update and manage all of their own content and images helping to both reduce costs and increase relevance of the site. We’re looking to attract new and repeat golfing visitors and make it so much easier for our clients.”
